Sunday Weigh-In (June 24, 2012)

Current Weight, as of  06/24/2012: 135.2 lbs.
Pounds lost since last weigh-in: ---
Goal Weight: 125-130 lbs.
~~
So it appears that I have hit a weight-loss plateau.  I have been at 135.2 for the past week, and each day that I check doesn't make the scale budge, either.  I am somewhat disheartened at the fact that there has been absolutely no more weight loss.  There's been, though, a 0.2 weight gain.

Most likely, the weight isn't coming off because my body has become used to what I eat and how I exercise.  That needs to change; thus, I'm going to try calorie cycling in order to help drop these last ten pounds.

In more positive news, though the weight hasn't dropped off of me, my body is looking a bit more toned.  Now THAT is an awesome feeling.

10 Things

Losing weight and subsequently becoming healthier brought about certain realizations.  Below is a list of 10 Things I've Noticed Since Becoming Healther:

1. I don't crave as much junk food as I used to.  I have a pretty bad sweet tooth -- I'm a sucker for chocolate, ice cream, cheeseburgers and pizza.  However, since I've started eating better, I find that I don't crave as much junk food as I used to.  Though there are times when my cravings are strong, I generally don't crave them as badly as I used to!

2. Water tastes A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.  I don't know how I avoided it before.  It's the main liquid that I have now.  Water, morning coffee, and the occasional milk or chocolate milk are the only things I drink.  But water?  Water is amazing.  There is nothing better than a cold glass of water after a workout.

3. My moods have been more positive.  As a result, my outlook on life is more optimistic.  In general, I am a pretty optimistic person.  I like to live my life with as much sunshine in it as possible.  However, exercising helps my mood be even brighter!  It's those crazy endorphins that help and I love it.

4.  I really do sleep better if I exercise.  Zzzzz!

5.  I don't mind the sweat as much as I thought I would.  In fact, I like when I sweat if I'm exercising.

6.  There really is no excuse to not exercise at least 30 minutes a day.  It really comes down to time management and what I consider a priority.  I may be in school, but God knows that I have at least 30 mins. to spare during the day to do a workout.  There are also DVD's that have intense 20 minute workouts; seriously, there is no reason to not exercise.

7.  When I indulge, that indulgence is enough to last me a long time.

8.  Jillian Michaels = goddess.  An ass-kicking one, at that.

9.  Getting started (or re-started) is the hardest part.  The cliche is true -- the most difficult part of anything in life is getting started.  It can be a scary, daunting task, but it's so rewarding.

10.  It's not that hard to turn down a craving for a cupcake.  Even for someone whose sweet tooth starts screaming pretty loudly, turning down something that I know I shouldn't have isn't that hard.  I heard a great tip via John Tesh: Learn to use the diet phrase "I don't want to" instead of "I can't."  It makes you feel empowered instead of deprived.  Not bad advice, eh?

I'll add a Sunday Weigh-In post this Sunday, I promise.  My weight didn't budge this past Sunday -- I stayed put at 135!

Sunday Weigh-In (June 10, 2012)

Current Weight, as of 11 AM 06/10/2012: 135.0 lbs.
Pounds lost since last weigh-in: 1.0 lbs
Goal Weight: 125-130 lbs.
~~
Aww, yeah! One pound lost!  I'm pretty excited, to say the least.

I definitely worked out harder and ate much better this week, even though summer classes started.  It's going to be quite a busy summer -- and I anticipate it being a busier fall -- but I plan on keeping up what I am doing now because dammit, it feels great.

I modified how I want my progress to look up top -- I took out the "BMI" part, as I have been in the "normal" part of it for quite a bit now, and I don't plan on being out of that range anytime soon.

Well, I may add another entry later, but for now I have to get ready to clean my apartment!  Happy Sunday!

Sunday Weigh-In (June 3, 2012)

Current Weight, as of 11 AM 05/20/2012: 136.0 lbs.
BMI (according to National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute): 22.5 (normal)
Pounds lost since last weigh-in: 1.1 lbs
Goal Weight: 125-130 lbs.

I admit, I cheated a bit.

I didn't want to post my weight for the past few Sundays because I had been eating so badly.  My weight went up to 138 lbs. and I felt ashamed.  In a matter of weeks, I had somehow managed to gain five pounds.  I mean, 138!  That's how much I weighed last year!  Don't tell me that my hard work is just slipping away!

Luckily, that doesn't seem to be the case.  Since I got back to Chicago, I have started to get back on track with my eating and exercise.  While I was in California, I was out with people a lot and made some unhealthy choices when it came to eating.  Couple that with the fact that my family had been here a week prior and it was just bad news bears all over the place.

However, while I was in California, I picked up two new things to help me get back on track: the Couch to 5K program and Jillian Michaels' new DVD, Kickbox FastFix.  Thus far, I am enjoying both programs and cannot wait to complete them.  Even though I feel (and probably look) like a fool while I"m trying to do the DVD, I do feel that it is working.  My body has been sore since I started doing it. ;)

Well, today is my cleaning day for the apartment, and I still plan to do my running sometime today.  Have a great week everyone!
